The Uganda Embassy in Havana has marked Uganda’s 63rd Independence Anniversary with a vibrant celebration that brought together leaders from Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic corps, and invited guests in a show of enduring friendship and cooperation.

Uganda’s Ambassador to Cuba, H.E. Sylvia Elizabeth Musazi, welcomed attendees with a message centred on partnership, mutual respect, and the long-standing ties between the two nations.

She later invited Hon. Fred Opolot, Vice Chairperson of Uganda’s Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, to deliver the national message on behalf of the Government of Uganda.

In his remarks, Hon. Opolot outlined Uganda’s four strategic pillars for socio-economic transformation and investment: Agro-industrialisation; Mineral Beneficiation and the Oil & Gas sector; Tourism Promotion; and Science, Technology and Innovation.

He emphasized that these pillars place Uganda firmly on the path to becoming a competitive and reliable investment destination.

The event also highlighted 51 years of Uganda–Cuba relations—cooperation anchored in health, education, science, agriculture, and a shared liberation history.

Opolot extended Uganda’s appreciation for Cuba’s longstanding solidarity and its contributions to Africa’s human capital development.

Guests were treated to curated tourism showcases that presented Uganda’s breathtaking natural beauty and the vast opportunities available to visitors and investors.

The celebration served not only as a commemoration of independence and national resilience but also as a renewed affirmation of friendship—and an open invitation to explore the Pearl of Africa.
