KISOZI, Uganda — President Yoweri Museveni has reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to African solidarity, announcing the country’s support for Angola’s candidate, Josefa Sacko, in the race for the position of Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The commitment was made after President Museveni received Angola’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Téte António, at his Kisozi Farm, where the Angolan envoy delivered a special message from President João Lourenço.
According to President Museveni, the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest between Uganda and Angola, with particular attention given to Angola’s campaign for Josefa Sacko to lead the FAO.
“We shall support Angola’s candidature because African solidarity is crucial in advancing our shared interests,” President Museveni said.

He emphasized that African countries must continue standing together and supporting one another on issues of strategic importance to the continent.
Uganda’s endorsement adds momentum to Angola’s campaign as African nations seek to rally behind a common candidate for one of the world’s leading international organizations responsible for global food security, agriculture, and rural development.
The meeting also underscored the warm bilateral relations between Uganda and Angola and the two countries’ continued cooperation on regional and continental priorities.
