Uganda’s Six-Year-Old Superstar: Pretty Amiirah Is Rewriting the Rules of Child Talent

At an age when most children are learning to read, Pretty Amiirah is already an award-winning singer, published author, model, and actress and she is only getting started.

By the time most children have settled into primary school routines, Pretty Amiirah has already built a career that many adult entertainers would envy.

At just six years old, this Kampala-born prodigy holds the title of Uganda’s Youngest Artist and has amassed over twelve international awards, a record that has turned heads far beyond the borders of East Africa.

Born to Pharidah Sheenah Katushabe, who has managed her daughter’s burgeoning career from the very beginning, Pretty Amiirah first showed signs of extraordinary musical talent at the age of three.

“When she began singing with a confidence and clarity rarely seen in toddlers,” I took keen attention, says her mother.

And such was her tenacity that by the time she was old enough for nursery school, she had already stepped into a recording studio and released her debut single, Mummy, a tender, heartfelt track that announced her arrival to the Ugandan music scene.

That was only the beginning.

A Discography That Keeps Growing

Today, Pretty Amiirah boasts a catalogue of over ten original songs, spanning a range of styles and themes that reflect her vibrant personality.

Tracks such as Tuli Happy, Pearl of Africa, Tekamara, Keep On Moving, and Birthday Darling have found audiences across multiple streaming platforms including Spotify, Boomplay, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

Her latest release, Kampala Nga Enyize Nze, is already generating buzz as a proud celebration of Uganda’s beloved capital city.

Her music is not simply cute novelty content. It carries genuine energy, cultural pride, and a youthfulness that resonates with children and adults alike.

Awards Across Borders

Pretty Amiirah’s trophy cabinet is remarkable for someone who has not yet reached her seventh birthday.

She has received over twelve awards across different fields and countries.

Her most recent international honour came on 28th May 2026, when she was recognised as the Youngest International Artist at the prestigious Media Waves Talent competition in Dubai, a win that placed her firmly on the global stage.

Just weeks later, on 14th June 2026, she added yet another feather to her cap, receiving a prestigious international award in Ghana, further cementing her status as a continent-wide phenomenon.

More Than a Musician

What makes Pretty Amiirah’s story truly extraordinary is the breadth of her talent.

She is not simply a singer. At just two years old, she appeared in the film Price of a Woman, demonstrating acting instincts that left filmmakers impressed.

She has since added modelling to her portfolio. She was crowned Toto Inclusive Queen at the East Africa Kids Fashion Runway, held in Kampala, and later crowned Toto Miss Pearl of Africa at the International Little Miss Pearl of Africa pageant, also held in Kampala; two titles that have cemented her status as one of the most recognisable young faces in East African children’s entertainment.

She is also a published author. Her book, Best Friend Myra and Mimi, written for young readers, was published by her mother, Sheenah, and is available on Amazon Kindle as well as in shops and supermarkets.

The book reflects Pretty Amiirah’s desire to inspire children through storytelling as much as through song.

Off stage, she serves as Brand Ambassador for both Tictime Junior School Senge Wakiso and Atis Biscuits, proving that brands are already recognising the influence this young star carries.

A Star in the Making — Already Made

For her mother, watching Pretty Amiirah flourish has been nothing short of extraordinary.

“She started this journey so naturally,” Sheenah Katushabe says.

“We just followed where her talent led, and we are very proud of her,” she adds.

With new music out, a growing international fanbase spanning Uganda, Dubai, Ghana, and beyond, and an ambition that shows no signs of slowing, Pretty Amiirah is proof that in talent, age is truly just a number.
