Uganda, Türkiye Deepen Strategic Partnership as Trade, Investment and Innovation Cooperation Expands

KAMPALA – Uganda and Türkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with senior diplomats from both countries holding high-level discussions aimed at accelerating economic cooperation and preparations for key joint initiatives.

Uganda’s Ambassador-at-Large, H.E. Nusura Tiperu, met with H.E. Mehmet Fatih Ak, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Uganda, to explore ways of deepening the strategic partnership between the two nations and advancing a shared agenda for sustainable economic growth.

The meeting focused on fast-tracking bilateral agreements designed to unlock new opportunities in trade, investment and development cooperation. The two diplomats also discussed expanding collaboration in critical sectors including health, science, technology, agriculture and education.

Among the key issues on the agenda were preparations for the forthcoming Uganda–Türkiye–Gulf States Trade & Investment Summit, the Uganda–Türkiye Health, Science, Technology & Innovation Summit, and the next session of the Uganda–Türkiye Joint Economic Commission, all expected to further strengthen commercial and institutional ties.

The engagement underscored the growing momentum in Uganda–Türkiye relations, with both countries prioritising innovation, industrialisation, technology transfer and investment as drivers of inclusive economic transformation.

Officials emphasized that the partnership is intended to create new opportunities for businesses, investors and citizens while fostering mutually beneficial cooperation that supports sustainable development in both countries.

The meeting reflects the continued commitment by Kampala and Ankara to expand diplomatic and economic engagement, positioning the bilateral relationship as an important platform for trade, investment and knowledge exchange.
