Momentum continues to build behind Eng. Jonard Asiimwe Akiiki’s bid for NRM Vice Chairperson (Western Uganda) on the party’s Central Executive Committee, as youth leaders in Northern Uganda pledge unwavering support for his candidacy.
During Akiiki’s tour of the region this week, Mahad, the Yumbe District Youth Chairperson, made a bold declaration:
“I will die for Eng. Jonard Asiimwe’s vote. I will voluntarily mobilize my members in Yumbe District to vote for Akiiki.”
The endorsement underscores growing youth enthusiasm for Akiiki’s manifesto, which prioritizes skilling, innovation, and grassroots empowerment across Uganda.
Meeting NRM Leaders at the Secretariat
In a related development, Akiiki yesterday attended the unveiling of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s new official portrait at the NRM Secretariat in Kampala. The high-profile event attracted district chairpersons and senior cadres who form a significant voting bloc ahead of the NRM Delegates’ Conference.
Using the occasion to rally support, Akiiki addressed the district chairpersons directly, stressing unity, continuity, and service delivery within the Movement. His message resonated, with several chairpersons pledging their full backing for his candidacy.
Campaign Anchored in Party Ideology
Akiiki’s campaign is rooted in reinforcing the NRM’s legacy while advancing new priorities such as youth innovation hubs, regional trade academies, and mineral beneficiation projects.
His growing national tour, which has taken him from Karamoja to Northern Uganda, highlights his strategy of connecting with grassroots leaders while consolidating support from key party structures.
As the Delegates’ Conference kicks off, Akiiki’s endorsements from both youth leaders and district chairpersons signal his rising influence in the race for one of the party’s most strategic positions.
