The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has announced new leadership changes in its Armoured Division following the sudden passing of Major General Deus Sande.

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations (SPA/SO), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Brigadier General Jackson Pande Kajuba as the new commander of the Armoured Division in Masaka.

He had been serving as the division’s deputy commander under the late Major General Sande.

In a related move, Colonel Wilson Bagonza Rwakanara from the Special Forces Command (SFC) has been promoted to Brigadier General and will serve as the new Deputy Commander of the Armoured Division.

The appointments take immediate effect. In a statement, the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) congratulated the officers and wished them success in their new roles.

“We congratulate the General officers on the new appointments and wish them good luck in the execution of their duties,” said Colonel Chris Magezi, Acting Director of Defence Public Information.

Brigadier Pande Kajuba now takes over the helm of the division at a critical time, following the untimely death of Major General Sande, who passed away yesterday due to severe breathing complications.
