Vice President Alupo was received by H.E. Alemu Sime (PhD), Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — H.E. Jessica Alupo, Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, arrived in Addis Ababa this afternoon to participate in the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU).

Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, Vice President Alupo was warmly received by H.E. Alemu Sime (PhD), Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, in a display of official hospitality befitting her high office. Also present, was Uganda’s Head of Mission and Permanent Representative at the AU, Ambassador Rebecca Amuge Otengo.

In a gesture highlighting her respect and goodwill toward Ethiopia, Vice President Alupo was seen on arrival wearing the traditional Ethiopian attire for women, the Habesha Kemis, a custom she has consistently embraced during her visits to the country.

This choice of dress symbolizes her appreciation for Ethiopian culture and strengthens the spirit of friendship between the two nations.

Photos of Vice President Alupo donning the traditional Habesha Kemis were shared online by Berhanu Tsegaye, State Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, highlighting the warm reception and cultural goodwill extended to the Ugandan delegation.

The Vice President who will be representing President Yoweri Museveni, is expected to engage with AU leaders on critical continental issues, including regional security, economic integration, and collaborative development initiatives.
