Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the First Lady, Maama Janet Museveni, on Thursday commissioned the DEI Group Advanced Agro-Processing Park and a new starch manufacturing plant in Busambo, Namasagali, Kamuli District.

The facility, developed by businessman Mr. Steven Magoola—marks a significant step in Uganda’s agro-industrialisation agenda.

President Museveni commended Magoola for his innovation, resilience, and long-term commitment to value addition, tracing his journey from pioneering malaria remedies in Matuuga based on indigenous knowledge to leading one of Uganda’s most ambitious agro-processing investments.

“I congratulate Mr. Magoola for his innovation and resilience… he continues to make a real contribution to Uganda’s wealth creation journey,” the President noted.

The Head of State also expressed gratitude to international partners, including “friends from the United States,” who are supporting the DEI Group’s agro-industrial initiatives.

In a major boost to agricultural exports, President Museveni further congratulated the People’s Republic of China for its long-standing cooperation with Africa since 1949.

Together with Chinese officials, he flagged off the first container of Ugandan chili destined for the Chinese market, calling it a “milestone in Uganda’s march to prosperity.”

The commissioning came ahead of the President and the First Lady’s second rally in Kamuli District, as part of ongoing engagements highlighting government achievements in wealth creation, industrialisation, and export diversification.
