ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia – Uganda’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Secretary General, Rt Hon Richard Todwong, has joined political leaders from across Africa at the African E-Party Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, reaffirming Uganda’s commitment to continental economic transformation, regional integration and shared prosperity.
Todwong, who is representing the NRM at the summit, said Africa’s future depends on greater unity, stronger regional markets, expanded intra-African trade and increased people-to-people connections.
In a statement shared from Addis Ababa, the NRM Secretary General called on African countries to move beyond traditional national boundaries and embrace their shared identity in pursuit of a more integrated and prosperous continent.
He emphasised the importance of collective action in advancing Africa’s economic ambitions, noting that stronger cooperation among African nations would be central to unlocking the continent’s potential.

“It is time to transcend borders, embrace our shared identity and work together towards a prosperous, integrated and united continent,” Todwong said.
He concluded with a call for continental solidarity, declaring: “One Africa. One people. One shared destiny. Together, we rise!”
Todwong’s participation comes as African political parties and leaders convene in Addis Ababa to discuss the role of political institutions in advancing economic development, democratic governance and regional cooperation.
The summit provides a platform for political actors to explore how stronger collaboration, cross-border trade and regional integration can contribute to Africa’s long-term development aspirations, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
