KIGO, November 6, 2026 — The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has brought together prominent religious leaders under a new engagement initiative dubbed the Patriotic League of National Religious Leaders, marking a new development in the country's political and religious engagement landscape.
The initiative was highlighted during a National Religious Leaders Breakfast Meeting held at Serena Kigo, attended by PLU General Secretary Twalla Fadil and several influential religious figures, including Pastor Robert Kayanja, Pastor Joseph Sserwada and Apostle Grace Lubega, among others.
The gathering brought together PLU leadership and religious leaders in an engagement that underscores the organisation's interest in building relationships with Uganda's religious community.
Speaking after the meeting, Fadil emphasised the importance of faith and divine guidance in leadership and national development.
"A journey led in the fear of God is a journey destined for greatness. Amen!" Fadil said.
The emergence of the Patriotic League of National Religious Leaders introduces a new dimension to PLU's engagement with religious institutions, which have historically played an important role in Uganda's social, moral and public affairs.
Religious leaders command significant influence within their respective communities, making their engagement an important aspect of conversations around national values, social cohesion and development.
However, further details about the initiative's organisational structure, membership, leadership and planned activities have yet to be communicated.
