President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Hon. Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala as the new Inspector General of Government (IGG), replacing Hon. Beti Olive Namisango Kamya.

The appointment, made in exercise of the President’s constitutional powers under Article 223 of the 1995 Constitution, comes at a time when the Inspectorate of Government continues to play a central role in enforcing integrity and transparency within public institutions.

Justice Batala, a seasoned judicial officer with vast experience in the administration of justice, will now head the anti-graft body, succeeding Kamya who has served in the position since 2021.

According to State House, the Deputy Inspectors General of Government—Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria and Mrs. Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe—have been maintained in their positions to ensure continuity in leadership and oversight.

In line with the law, the names of the appointees have been forwarded to Parliament for vetting before they formally assume office.

Justice Batala’s appointment is expected to bring renewed momentum to the Inspectorate’s efforts in combating corruption, promoting good governance, and ensuring that public resources are used for the benefit of all Ugandans.
