Newly appointed Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Henry Musasizi, has pledged to uphold sound fiscal management, inclusive economic planning and policies that promote sustainable growth following his swearing-in.

In his first public remarks after taking office, Musasizi expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for entrusting him with the crucial docket, describing the appointment as both an honor and a responsibility to serve Ugandans.

“I am deeply honored to have been sworn in as the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development of the Republic of Uganda,” Musasizi said.

He thanked the President for the confidence placed in him and pledged to execute his duties with integrity, diligence and dedication.

Musasizi said he would work closely with fellow government officials and stakeholders to advance prudent fiscal management, strengthen economic planning and implement policies aimed at improving livelihoods across the country.

The new Finance Minister emphasized the importance of sustainable economic growth and shared prosperity, noting that his focus would be on ensuring Uganda’s economic development benefits all citizens.

“To the people of Uganda: I am here to serve you,” he said. “I will approach this role with humility, accountability and an unwavering commitment to advancing our nation’s economic development and shared prosperity.”

His appointment comes at a time when Uganda is pursuing ambitious infrastructure investments, industrialization and job creation initiatives as part of its broader economic transformation agenda.

As head of the Finance Ministry, Musasizi will play a central role in shaping government spending, mobilizing domestic revenue, managing public finances and steering economic policy to support national development priorities.

Observers will be keenly watching how the new minister navigates fiscal pressures while sustaining economic growth and delivering on the government’s development objectives.
