The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has announced that Uganda’s Independence Day celebrations will henceforth be held permanently at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
Speaking today during the final parade rehearsals ahead of Uganda’s 63rd Independence Day celebrations, Gen. Muhoozi commended the security forces for their outstanding performance and dedication in perfecting new parade drills introduced last year.
He emphasized that while Kololo will serve as the traditional home for Independence Day celebrations, other key national events — including Liberation Day and Tarehe Sita — will continue to rotate across different regions of the country to foster inclusivity, patriotism, and national unity.
“The new parade drills we introduced last year have now been mastered through consistent training and teamwork,” Gen. Muhoozi said. “This reflects the discipline, coordination, and professionalism that define Uganda’s armed forces.”
The Independence Day celebrations, marking 63 years since Uganda attained self-rule from Britain in 1962, will attract dignitaries from across the country and beyond, with the theme focusing on unity, resilience, and national development.
