President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on April 4 hosted the outgoing Russian Ambassador to Uganda, Vladlen Semivolos, at State House Entebbe, marking the end of the envoy’s diplomatic tour of duty in the country.
During the meeting, President Museveni commended Ambassador Semivolos for his contribution to strengthening relations between Uganda and Russia, highlighting his role in promoting cooperation and sustaining warm ties between the two nations.
In a message shared following the meeting, the President congratulated the ambassador on successfully completing his assignment and lauded his efforts in advancing mutual understanding and collaboration.
“I hosted H.E. Vladlen Semivolos, the outgoing Russian ambassador to Uganda, at State House Entebbe today. I congratulated him on completing his tour of duty and praised his efforts in ensuring the continued warmth and cooperation between our countries and peoples. I wish him success in his future endeavors,” President Museveni said.
Uganda and Russia have maintained longstanding diplomatic relations, with cooperation spanning key sectors including energy, defense, education, and technology. Ambassador Semivolos’ tenure comes at a time of growing engagement between Moscow and African capitals, as Russia deepens its strategic footprint across the continent.
His departure marks the end of a diplomatic chapter characterized by steady bilateral engagement, with expectations that both countries will continue to build on the foundations established during his tenure.
