The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has directed his official allowances toward major improvements at Bombo Barracks Nursery and Primary School, committing UGX 300 million to construct a new classroom block and renovate existing facilities.
The contribution also includes scholastic materials and supplementary infrastructure support. The cheque was formally handed over to the school leadership by the CDF’s Military Assistant, Col Christopher Muwumba.
This initiative marks the first fulfilment of Gen Kainerugaba’s pledge upon assuming office: to channel the allowances attached to his position into public interventions where urgent needs exist.
Brig Gen Richard Karemire, Joint Staff for Formal Education, Sports and Culture, hailed the contribution as a major boost to improving the learning environment for children of soldiers.

The cheque was formally handed over to the school leadership by the CDF’s Military Assistant, Col Christopher Muwumba.
“This money could have gone elsewhere, but the CDF committed it towards the education of our children,” he said, thanking Gen Kainerugaba for prioritising the welfare of soldiers and their families.
Bombo Barracks Primary School holds a special place within the force, with over 800 learners, most of them children of serving soldiers. Brig Gen Karemire urged UPDF engineers to ensure timely completion of the construction works and highlighted other education projects supported by the CDF—including the construction of Ruhengyere Army Primary School and the rehabilitation of Lira Army Primary School.
Speaking at the handover, Col Muwumba said the support to Bombo Barracks Nursery and Primary School represents more than a financial gesture.
“This is a shared investment in the future—an investment in the young minds of our nation,”
he noted, adding that more interventions will follow in the coming months, aligning with government programs and the UPDF’s spirit of service.
He emphasised that strengthening education in barracks communities boosts morale among soldiers and ultimately enhances their capacity to serve the country effectively. He called on teachers, parents, and local residents to safeguard the improved facilities and maintain close cooperation with school leadership.
The event was attended by the school administration, teachers, parents, staff, and learners.
