The Head of the Regional Economic Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Richard Kabonero, on Thursday held a meeting with H.E. Frederieke Quispel, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Uganda, to strengthen bilateral cooperation and explore new areas of partnership.
The two officials discussed ongoing collaborations between Uganda and the Netherlands and agreed to expand engagement into new strategic areas involving both government and the private sector. Key among these are support to agro-industrialization, value addition, refugee support programs, and capacity building initiatives.
Amb. Kabonero emphasized the importance of aligning bilateral cooperation with Uganda’s development priorities under Vision 2040, highlighting agro-industrialization and private sector empowerment as central to the country’s economic transformation agenda.
On her part, Ambassador Quispel reaffirmed the Netherlands’ commitment to working with Uganda to enhance trade, investment, and sustainable development, particularly through initiatives that promote inclusive growth and resilience. She noted that supporting the private sector will be crucial in accelerating value chain development and job creation, especially for women and youth.
Both sides agreed to continue consultations and develop frameworks that enhance collaboration in key productive sectors while fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic partnerships.
The meeting underscored the long-standing friendship between Uganda and the Netherlands and their shared vision of achieving inclusive and sustainable development through strategic cooperation.
