Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has issued a thunderous warning to corruption suspects, declaring that security agencies will show no mercy as the sweeping anti-graft crackdown gathers momentum across the country.

In a strongly worded statement released amid dramatic raids linked to the investigation into former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, Muhoozi revealed that security forces had launched a major operation code-named “Operation Maliza Ufisadi” — Swahili for “End Corruption.”

“The security forces under the direction and instructions of the Commander-in-Chief launched Operation ‘Maliza Ufisadi’ the other day. We shall expand this operation and apprehend all culprits. No one will be spared,” Muhoozi declared.

The explosive statement has sent shockwaves through political and business circles, especially coming at a time when security agencies are conducting high-profile searches targeting alleged corruption, illicit enrichment, and money laundering networks.

Political insiders say the operation appears to signal a new phase in the government’s anti-corruption campaign, with fears growing among officials who suspect they could be next on investigators’ radar.

The operation has already triggered panic within some political camps, particularly after joint security teams reportedly raided multiple properties linked to Among and confiscated laptops, satellite phones, and other electronic devices believed to be relevant to ongoing investigations.

The phrase “No one will be spared” quickly began trending in political discussions online, with supporters praising the crackdown while critics questioned whether the operation would truly target all powerful figures equally.

Observers also note that the operation’s timing is politically significant, unfolding just as the battle for the next Speaker of Parliament intensifies inside the ruling NRM party.
