A joint security operation led by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), backed by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and other security agencies, has reportedly raided the residence of former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption, illicit enrichment, and money laundering.
NBS TV has relayed images from the former Speaker’s house saying the operation was conducted under tight security as investigators searched the premises for documents, electronic devices, and other materials believed to be linked to the probe.
The dramatic raid marks a major escalation following reports that President Yoweri Museveni asked her to withdraw from the Speakership race.
