President Yoweri Museveni has emphasized the importance of ideology in leadership and national transformation, warning that leaders without clear ideological grounding risk misdiagnosing society’s problems.

Speaking during the second edition of “Jazz with Jajja” now underway at his Kisozi Ranch, the President said he has no objection to appointing young people to leadership positions but stressed that ideological clarity is essential.

“I have no problem appointing young people. However, it is important to have ideology,” Museveni said. “Ideology is medicine for socio-economic transformation. Without ideology, you are lost. If you don’t correctly diagnose the problems of society, you’re a quack.”

First Lady Janet Museveni is also present together with First daughter Mrs Natasha Karugire Museveni, who is moderating the interaction between the president and the youth.

The President explained that ideology provides a framework for understanding historical injustices, economic bottlenecks, and governance challenges. According to him, transformation cannot be achieved through improvisation or superficial solutions, but through deliberate and well-informed strategies rooted in correct principles.

Before the interaction, Museveni took the youths on a guided tour of his Kisozi Ranch.

Turning to regional affairs, Museveni challenged young people to take a keen interest in East African integration, describing it as a strategic priority for the continent’s future prosperity.

“If I were your age, I would be very busy with the issue of East Africa integration,” he noted, adding that regional unity is crucial for expanding markets, enhancing security cooperation, and strengthening Africa’s bargaining power globally.

The “Jazz with Jajja” forum is an interactive platform where the President engages young Ugandans in discussions on governance, history, ideology, and national development.

The latest edition focused on leadership preparation, continental integration, and the ideological foundations of Uganda’s socio-economic transformation agenda.
