Uganda’s diplomatic mission in Zambia concluded a comprehensive outreach week that blended diaspora services and travel promotion.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Uganda High Commission in Zambia — began with a registration drive for Ugandans in Zambia, enabling hundreds to access essential government services and reaffirm their connection with home. The process, undertaken in collaboration with the National Identification and Registration Authority, reflects a broader push by Uganda to strengthen diaspora inclusion and participation.
Following the registration exercise, the High Commission launched Uganda’s first-ever Tourism Roadshow in Lusaka under the banner “Experience the Pearl of Africa”.

The campaign culminated in Uganda’s 63rd Independence Day celebration held at Lusaka’s Pamodzi Hotel. Hosted by Fred Mwesigye, Uganda’s High Commissioner to Zambia, the event brought together the diplomatic corps, members of the Ugandan diaspora and Zambian officials, reinforcing the shared history and future cooperation between the two nations.
Though framed as two separate efforts, the synergy between diaspora support and tourism promotion signals a shifting paradigm in Uganda’s foreign outreach — one that treats citizens abroad and tourism markets as part of a unified strategic ecosystem.
