President Museveni: Uganda’s Peace Rooted in Unity, Not Sectarianism

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed the people of Zombo District for their warm reception during his visit, emphasizing that Uganda’s current peace and stability are rooted in the National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s principles of unity and non-sectarianism.

“For the first time in a long time, there is peace across the whole of Uganda. This peace has come because of the NRM’s ideology that rejects sectarianism based on religion or tribe,” the President said.

He noted that national unity is a cornerstone of the country’s stability, questioning how a divided society could build a cohesive national army.

“If you support sectarianism based on tribes or religion, how can you effectively build a national army?” he asked. “The peace we enjoy in Uganda is a result of our unity and the strength of a united national army.”

During the visit, residents of Zombo raised concerns about the lack of a district hospital and poor road infrastructure. President Museveni assured them that the government would work to address these issues, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to equitable development across all regions.

The President’s visit comes as part of his ongoing nationwide campaigns aimed at consolidating peace, promoting unity, and accelerating socio-economic transformation under the NRM government.
