President Yoweri Museveni has reaffirmed his commitment to fighting corruption, warning that anyone who abuses Parish Development Model (PDM) funds will face firm action.

While addressing a campaign rally in Kyegegwa, the President said the PDM was established to uplift all households into the money economy, and stressed that government resources must reach the intended beneficiaries.

He emphasized that any form of theft, diversion, or mishandling of PDM money undermines national progress and will not be tolerated.

Museveni urged leaders and communities to safeguard the programme, report mismanagement, and ensure transparency so that the initiative continues transforming livelihoods across Uganda.

Earlier, President Museveni held his first rally in Kamwenge, where he thanked residents for the massive turnout and praised the district’s stability. He noted that unity and a disciplined army have secured peace in the area, with several ADF attempts successfully defeated.

To further consolidate security, the President announced plans to establish a UPDF battalion and a permanent army barracks in Kamwenge.

On development, Museveni assured locals that government will work on the Kyenjojo–Kihura and Rwimi roads to improve connectivity and support economic activities.

He also commended farmers for shifting from low-value crops like maize to higher-value enterprises such as coffee, fruits, and bananas. He highlighted the success of Mr. Julius Akorinako, who began with two acres of clonal coffee in 2019, expanded to six acres, and now earns about Shs 40 million annually.

Museveni said such examples demonstrate the right path to prosperity and the transformative potential of organized, commercial agriculture.
