Laptops, Electronic Gadgets Seized As Anita Among Corruption Probe Widens

Security operatives reportedly confiscated several laptop computers, and electronic devices during the dramatic raid on the residence of former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, according to highly placed sources familiar with the operation.

The joint security team, led by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) with support from the UPDF and other agencies, is said to have carried out an extensive search targeting materials believed to be relevant to an ongoing corruption, illicit enrichment, and money laundering investigation.

Investigations have now reportedly widened to Among’s other homes in Kigo and Ntinda following yesterday’s high-profile search at her Nakasero residence.

The expanding operation follows President Yoweri Museveni reportedly ordering a probe into Among over alleged corruption and money laundering.

Sources say investigators focused heavily on communication gadgets, financial records, and digital storage devices that could help trace transactions and correspondence linked to the probe.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement confirming the recovered items or the ongoing searches.

The developments mark one of the most dramatic anti-corruption operations involving a senior political figure in recent years.

More details to follow.
