Airfare Battle! RwandAir Offers Entebbe-Kigali Flights at $150 One-Way
November 6, 2026
KIGALI, Rwanda — RwandAir has advertised a promotional fare of US$250 for return flights between Entebbe and Kigali, intensifying the emerging competition on the regional route ahead of Uganda Airlines' planned entry later this month.
In aN announcement, the Rwandan national carrier says travellers can fly between the two cities for US$150 one-way or US$250 return, offering a fairer alternatives.
The development comes after Uganda Airlines announced a starting return fare of US$370 for its new Entebbe–Kigali service, scheduled to commence on November 18, 2026.
The difference between the advertised return fares is US$120, with RwandAir's offer approximately 32 per cent lower than Uganda Airlines' announced starting price.
The latest fare announcement also changes the competitive picture. Travel booking platforms have displayed RwandAir return fares around US$250 on selected dates, although prices vary by travel date and availability.
Uganda Airlines had initially positioned its Kigali service as a cheaper alternative to RwandAir, with its US$370 introductory return fare coming in below the US$450 fare previously reported for RwandAir.
However, RwandAir's latest advertised promotion narrows that advantage and gives travellers another reason to compare prices before booking.
The competition is particularly significant given the importance of the Entebbe–Kigali corridor to business travellers, tourists, government officials and passengers connecting through the two countries.
RwandAir already operates regular direct services on the route, while Uganda Airlines' entry is expected to introduce another option for travellers and increase competition between the neighbouring countries' national carriers.
For Uganda Airlines, the challenge will be to attract passengers through competitive pricing, reliable schedules, service quality and convenient connections through Entebbe.
For travellers, the emerging competition could translate into more affordable regional air travel, although the advertised promotional fares may be subject to booking conditions, taxes, travel dates and seat availability.
