A team of thirty Kenyan tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, and influencers has embarked on a seven-day familiarization (FAM) trip across Uganda, aimed at boosting cross-border tourism and strengthening regional cooperation in the travel industry.

The delegation was officially flagged off on November 4, 2025, by Ambassador Paul Mukumbya, Uganda’s Consul-General in Mombasa. The initiative — dubbed the Uganda–Kenya Coast FAM Trip 2025 — follows the successful 4th Edition of the Uganda–Kenya Coastal Tourism Conference held in Malindi in October.

The trip seeks to deepen collaboration between Uganda and Kenya’s coastal tourism stakeholders while promoting the concept of regional and borderless travel within East Africa.

“This initiative allows our Kenyan counterparts to experience Uganda’s unique attractions firsthand and better position the country within their travel packages for both regional and international markets,” said Ambassador Mukumbya during the flag-off ceremony.

Over the course of seven days, the participants will explore Uganda’s diverse tourism offerings — from wildlife and adventure to culture and agri-tourism. The journey kicked off with an inspiring visit to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas, one of the country’s most iconic attractions.

According to organizers, the visit highlights Uganda’s commitment to sustainable tourism, biodiversity conservation, and community-driven development across its protected areas.

The trip also reinforces Uganda’s growing appeal as a must-visit destination and underscores ongoing efforts to position East Africa as a unified tourism hub, where collaboration rather than competition drives growth and sustainability.
