Uganda’s Minister of State for Trade, Hon. Gen. Mbasu Mbadi, today visited the Uganda product promotion venue at Lucua Business Center in Osaka City as part of ongoing efforts to boost trade and investment ties with Japan.
Accompanied by Uganda’s Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Tophace Kaahwa, the Minister familiarized himself with the range of Ugandan products on display, which are being showcased to attract market interest and investment from Japanese consumers and businesses.
The promotion event, organized by the Uganda Mission in Tokyo, forms part of Uganda’s enhanced country programming leading into the Osaka 2025 World Expo. It also sets the stage for the highly anticipated Uganda-Japan Investment Forum, scheduled to take place tomorrow, June 19, 2025, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Osaka.
Uganda’s diverse offerings featured at the venue include premium coffee brands, Uganda Waragi, chocolate made from Ugandan cocoa, and dried tropical fruits. The promotion also included live and recorded Ugandan music performances, spotlighting the country’s vibrant cultural heritage and tourism potential.
Hon. Mbadi commended the embassy’s efforts in leveraging the global platform provided by the Expo to advance Uganda’s trade agenda. He reiterated Uganda’s commitment to strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and attracting strategic investment from Japan into key sectors of Uganda’s economy.
The Uganda-Japan Investment Forum is expected to draw business leaders, investors, and government officials from both countries, with a focus on unlocking trade opportunities, industrial collaboration, and technology transfer.
