Rwanda, Israel Foreign Ministers Discuss Great Lakes Region Situation

Israel’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Gideon Sa’ar, has expressed his country’s support for ongoing dialogue aimed at fostering peace in the Great Lakes region.

This was revealed during a phone conversation with Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe.

In a statement shared on social media, Sa’ar highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Israel and Rwanda, emphasizing their extensive cooperation across various sectors.

He also provided his Rwandan counterpart with a briefing on developments in the Middle East.

“I spoke with Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe. We discussed the extensive cooperation between our nations, and I briefed him on issues in the Middle East. I expressed our support for the continuation of dialogue that will bring peace to the Great Lakes region,” Sa’ar stated.

The Great Lakes region has faced ongoing security challenges, including armed conflicts and geopolitical tensions among neighboring states, the the latest, clashes between DR Congo and M23 rebels.
