Ms. Teta Gisa, the daughter of the late Rwandan freedom fighter Fred Rwigyema, has been appointed as the Director General for Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The appointment comes as part of the latest changes made by President Kagame to enhance diplomatic efforts and strengthen Rwanda’s engagement with African nations.
Teta, known for her dedication to her father’s legacy and her commitment to advancing Rwanda’s interests on the international stage, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. The appointment signifies a recognition of her capabilities and a continuation of the Rwigyema legacy in serving the nation.
The announcement was made following a cabinet meeting that President Kagame chaired on Monday.
Late Fred Rwigyema, a key figure in the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) and one of the early leaders in addressing political issues in Rwanda, is remembered for his role in the liberation struggle.
As Director General for Africa, Teta Gisa is poised to contribute to Rwanda’s diplomatic endeavors and strengthen collaborative efforts with African nations, marking a new chapter in the country’s engagement on the continent.
In the same cabinet meeting, the president proposed Gen Nyamvumba as Rwanda’s Ambassador to Tanzania.
