NEW ALAMEIN, Egypt — Uganda’s Vice President Jessica Alupo has arrived in New Alamein, Egypt, where she will represent President Yoweri Museveni at the 8th African Union Mid-Year Coordination Meeting scheduled for October 4.
Alupo was officially received upon arrival by Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Dr Sameh El-Hefny. Her delegation included Mr Nzaire Sedrack Kaguta.
The summit brings together the African Union, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Regional Mechanisms and member states to review progress on continental integration and strengthen coordination between the AU and regional blocs.
The 2026 meeting is being hosted in New Alamein as part of a series of high-level African events taking place in Egypt from October 2 to 4. These include the Alamein Africa Forum and a summit of the founding states of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD).

According to the African Union, the Mid-Year Coordination Meeting is the principal forum for coordinating the work of the AU and Regional Economic Communities and assessing the implementation of the continental integration agenda. It also addresses the division of responsibilities between the AU, RECs, Regional Mechanisms and member states.
Uganda’s delegation includes Ambassador Rebecca Amuge, Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, and State Minister for Regional Affairs Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo.
The opening session of the 8th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting is scheduled for October 4 at the International Convention and Exhibition Center in New Alamein.
