Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Okello has completed his move to Moroccan giants AS FAR Rabat, signing a three-year contract after just seven months with Tanzanian champions Young Africans SC.

The transfer is reportedly worth $1.5 million, making it one of the biggest moves of a Ugandan footballer in recent years. Reports indicate that AS FAR emerged as the preferred destination after strong interest from Moroccan rivals Wydad Casablanca.

Okello, 26, joined Young Africans in January 2026 from Ugandan side Vipers SC in a deal reportedly worth $300,000. His short spell in Tanzania proved highly successful, with the attacking midfielder finishing the season as Yanga’s leading scorer with 14 league goals, helping the club retain the Tanzanian Premier League title.

His rapid rise in value means Yanga could make a substantial return on their investment, with the reported $1.5 million sale representing roughly five times the amount the Tanzanian club paid Vipers for his services.

At Yanga, Okello reportedly earned between $8,000 and $10,000 per month, alongside a house, a car and other benefits.

Unconfirmed reports circulating in the media indicate that Okello’s new package at AS FAR could include an annual salary of about $167,000, as well as a reported $100,000 signing-on fee. These figures have not been independently confirmed by AS FAR or Okello.

Okello’s move to Morocco also reunites him with Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves, who previously worked with him at Young Africans. The coach’s familiarity with the Ugandan midfielder is expected to help ease his transition into the Moroccan top flight.

The transfer marks another major chapter in Okello’s career, which has taken him from KCCA FC to Algeria’s Paradou AC, Vipers SC, Young Africans and now AS FAR.

For Yanga, his departure represents a significant financial return after only half a season. For Okello, the move offers another opportunity to establish himself in North African football and further raise his profile on the continental stage.
