Honourable John Mulimba, Minister of State for Regional Cooperation, has received copies of the Letters of Credence from Ababu Namwamba, High Commissioner-designate of the Republic of Kenya to the Republic of Uganda, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Uganda in Kampala.
During the meeting, Hon. Mulimba congratulated Ambassador Namwamba upon his appointment and pledged the Ministry’s full support to ensure a successful diplomatic tour of duty. He underscored the long-standing and cordial relations between Uganda and Kenya, noting that the two nations share deep historical ties and a common vision for regional peace, prosperity, and stronger East African integration.
Ambassador Namwamba expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him by the Government and people of Uganda. He highlighted peace and security cooperation, alongside the promotion of trade and investment, as key priorities of his mission in Kampala.
The envoy further emphasized Kenya’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Uganda in strategic sectors such as tourism and joint infrastructure development. He noted that such partnerships are critical in attracting investment, enhancing value addition, and creating employment opportunities for citizens in both countries.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening people-to-people linkages and expanding bilateral trade. They stressed the importance of fast-tracking regional integration efforts, including the elimination of non-tariff barriers that hinder cross-border commerce.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to maintain close consultations and pursue concrete, time-bound actions aimed at effectively implementing agreed areas of cooperation between the two sister republics.
