Uganda and Ethiopia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and deepening regional cultural cooperation following a high-level meeting in Kampala on Tuesday afternoon.

H.E. Ambassador Etsegenet Yimenu held productive discussions with Uganda’s Vice President, H.E. Jessica Alupo, with both leaders emphasizing the need to enhance the already strong collaboration between the two nations.

The talks focused on expanding bilateral ties and nurturing cultural partnerships that continue to define relations between Kampala and Addis Ababa.

Central to the discussion was the successful Attekere Cultural Festival, held in Soroti in November 2024, which both sides hailed as a key milestone in advancing people-to-people engagement.

The festival—celebrated for showcasing shared heritage, traditional arts, and regional unity—has become a pillar of cultural diplomacy between the two countries.

VP Alupo expressed her appreciation to the Government and people of Ethiopia for the warm hospitality extended to her delegation during her recent official working visit to Addis Ababa.

She noted that such gestures further strengthen mutual respect and cooperation. Mr Robel Admassu, Head of Political Affairs at Ethiopian Embassy accompanied the ambassador to the meeting.

Ambassador Yimenu and the Vice President agreed on the importance of sustaining momentum in cultural, political, and socio-economic collaboration as the two nations work to consolidate regional stability and development.
