Uganda has received a contribution of DKK 15 million (approximately USD 2.3 million) from the Government of Denmark to support emergency food assistance for about 80,000 newly arrived refugees.

The funds, channeled through the World Food Programme (WFP), will be used to provide cash transfers to the most vulnerable refugees, enabling them to purchase food and meet their immediate nutritional needs.

Uganda currently hosts over 1.6 million refugees, mainly from South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and other neighboring countries.

The country maintains one of the world’s most progressive refugee policies, granting access to land, work, and social services.

Denmark has been a long-standing partner in humanitarian and development support for Uganda, particularly in areas of food security, governance, and sustainable livelihoods.
