DEVELOPING: Leader of DRC Armed Group Killed, ‘US Passport Holder’ Among Arrested in Attempted Siege on Presidential Palace

Reports from DR Congo indicate that Christian Malanga, the leader of the armed group responsible for the attempted siege on the Presidential Palace in Kinshasa, has been killed by Commandos attached to the Presidential Guard.

Malanga’s death occurred during ongoing operations as his group sought to lay siege on the National Palace, according to reports.

They add that Malanga’s son, aged 22, was among those arrested by security forces, along with several other attackers. Most of the assailants have been apprehended, including some individuals reportedly found in possession of US and Canadian passports.

The attempted siege on the Presidential Palace has sent shockwaves throughout Kinshasa and beyond, raising concerns about security and stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
