Museveni to Bobi Wine: ‘Do the Calculation; One Soldier Carries 120 Bullets’

President has strongly criticised opposition leader , popularly known as Bobi Wine, over remarks suggesting that Uganda’s security forces could be overwhelmed by popular action, warning that such statements are reckless and lack strategic foresight.

Speaking in response to Kyagulanyi’s comments, Museveni said claims that there are insufficient security personnel to manage unrest dangerously misrepresent the state’s capacity to maintain law and order.

“Don’t listen to Kyagulanyi. His comments about trying to overwhelm the security services lack foresight,” Museveni said. “The claim that there are not enough soldiers to deal with rioters is misguided. One soldier carries 120 bullets — do the calculation.”

The president emphasised that Uganda remains stable and firmly under the control of state institutions, warning that any attempts to incite chaos or destabilise the country would be met with lawful enforcement.

“Uganda cannot be destabilised, and anyone who attempts it will be arrested,” Museveni added.

The remarks come amid heightened political tensions as opposition figures continue to criticise the conduct of security agencies during political mobilisation and campaign activities.

Government officials, however, insist that security deployments are necessary to preserve public order and protect lives and property, arguing that inflammatory rhetoric risks encouraging unrest.

Museveni’s latest comments indicate the state’s zero-tolerance stance on disorder and signal continued hard-line messaging from the presidency as political contestation intensifies ahead of future electoral activities.
