The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan has issued a formal denial of recent media reports suggesting that the government is considering resettling Palestinian nationals from Gaza within its borders.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry described the claims as “baseless” and emphasized that they do not reflect the official position or policy of the South Sudanese government.
“The Ministry urges all media outlets to exercise due diligence and verify information through official channels before publication,” the statement read, warning against the spread of misinformation.
The clarification comes amid unverified reports circulating in regional and international media suggesting potential discussions between South Sudan and the State of Israel regarding the relocation of Palestinians affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
South Sudan, which gained independence in 2011, has faced numerous internal challenges, including civil conflict and humanitarian crises, making the purported resettlement plan particularly controversial and widely questioned.
Government officials have not provided further comments on the matter but reiterated their commitment to transparent communication through official channels.
