Uganda Sets Date for Review of NGO Law and Suspended Organisations
November 4, 2026
Uganda’s government is set to review the NGO law and bans imposed on some non-governmental organisations on November 10, 2026, Minister of Internal Affairs Ephraim Kamuntu has told Parliament.
Kamuntu was responding to concerns raised by Denes Sekabira, the Member of Parliament for Katikamu County North, who said it was the fifth time he had raised questions about the legal and operational status of the NGO Bureau.
The minister said the review would address some of the issues raised, with further details expected after the meeting scheduled for Tuesday next week.
The review comes amid parliamentary concerns over the NGO Bureau’s legal standing and the restrictions imposed on some organisations operating in Uganda.
