The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) has officially handed over a UGX 10.3 billion contract for the opening of 86 kilometres of roads within the Kabalega Industrial Park (KIP) to National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) Construction, Works and Engineering Ltd.

The road project is expected to provide critical access routes for investors, contractors and security agencies while supporting future industrial, commercial and residential developments within the park.

The handover ceremony marked the beginning of implementation of the infrastructure works aimed at improving connectivity and preparing Kabalega Industrial Park for increased investment activity.

Speaking during the handover, UNOC Chief Executive Officer Proscovia Nabbanja urged both teams involved in the project to maintain high standards of quality, safety and accountability throughout the construction period.

Nabbanja emphasized the importance of delivering infrastructure that meets the needs of current and future investors while contributing to Uganda’s broader industrialisation agenda.

“Quality, safety and accountability must remain at the centre of this project as we work together to deliver infrastructure that supports the growth of Kabalega Industrial Park,” she said.

NEC Managing Director Hon. Lt. Gen. James Mugira said the corporation was prepared to immediately mobilise resources and commence works, pledging to deliver the project according to the required standards.

Lt. Gen. Mugira described the contract as another milestone in promoting local content and strengthening the role of Ugandan institutions in national development projects.

The Kabalega Industrial Park is part of Uganda’s wider strategy to create integrated industrial hubs that attract investment, support manufacturing and generate employment opportunities.

The development of internal road networks is expected to enhance accessibility within the park and provide the foundation for future industrial, commercial and residential expansion.
