KAMPALA, Uganda — Tooro Kingdom has officially confirmed that His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV is in a critical condition, amid widespread reports circulating on social media about his health.

In an official communication issued by Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister Calvin Rwomiire Akiiki, the Kingdom appealed to the people of Tooro and the general public to keep the King in their thoughts and prayers.

“This is to inform you that His Majesty King Oyo is currently in a critical condition,” the Prime Minister said.

The statement did not disclose the nature of the King’s illness or provide details about where he is receiving treatment.

The Kingdom also urged the public to refrain from speculation and the circulation of unverified information concerning the monarch’s condition.

“We equally appeal to everyone to refrain from speculation, rumours or sharing unverified information regarding His Majesty’s condition,” Rwomiire said.

He acknowledged the concern and anxiety caused by the reports, but called for calm, restraint and respect for the King and the Royal Family.

The Kingdom said its official communication channels would provide further updates “as and when appropriate.”

“For now, we ask that we stand together in prayer for His Majesty,” the Prime Minister said.

The statement comes after reports began circulating claiming that King Oyo had died following an alleged battle with cancer while undergoing treatment abroad.

However, Tooro Kingdom has not announced the King’s death, and the latest official communication only confirms that he is in critical condition.

King Oyo, who became Omukama of Tooro in 1995 at the age of three, remains one of Uganda’s most prominent traditional leaders.
