The Ministry of Health Uganda has today convened a health sensitisation workshop at the Gaddafi National Mosque, bringing together members of the Youth Inter-Faith Network and religious leaders from across Kampala as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community health awareness and disease prevention.

The engagement follows similar successful outreach sessions previously conducted with religious leaders in Mukono and Wakiso districts, highlighting the government’s continued collaboration with faith-based institutions in advancing public health campaigns within the Kampala Metropolitan Area.

Presentations during the workshop are focusing on preventive health messages and public awareness regarding the Ebola outbreak, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria. Health officials emphasised the critical role religious and community leaders play in disseminating accurate health information, combating misinformation, and mobilising communities towards preventive action.

According to the Ministry, the initiative is part of broader community health promotion and education campaigns aimed at improving public understanding of disease prevention, early detection, and timely response to health threats.

The Ministry further reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships with faith-based and community leaders in promoting public health, disease prevention, and timely health education among communities.

Officials noted that each indoor dialogue session is followed by a community baraza and a medical camp where residents are provided with free health services, further extending healthcare outreach directly to communities.
