Museveni’s Family Gets a Bishop as Daughter Patience Takes Episcopal Office

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni on Sunday witnessed the consecration of their daughter, Patience Rwabwogo, as a Bishop of Covenant Nations Churches in Uganda, marking a new chapter in her 20-year ministry.

In a message shared after the ceremony, Museveni thanked God for Patience’s elevation and celebrated having a bishop in the family.

“Today, I have a whole Bishop in the family,” Museveni said, reflecting on his family’s long history in the area and noting that his father, Mzee Kaguta, joined the Church in 1947.

The President also expressed gratitude for the recovery of Maama Janet, thanking the medical staff and their children—Muhoozi, Natasha, Patience and Diana—for standing by her throughout her recovery.

Museveni welcomed the presence of prominent Christian leaders, including Pastor Enoch Adeboye and Bishop LaDonna Osborn, who joined the family for the consecration ceremony.

He used the occasion to remind religious leaders of what he described as the practical substance of Christianity—healing the sick, feeding the hungry and freeing those in bondage, in keeping with the mission of Jesus Christ.
