Museveni Injects Shs2Bn Into Pastors’ SACCO

President Yoweri Museveni has pledged Shs2 billion to support a savings and credit cooperative (SACCO) formed by pastors attending the Big Fix Holy Spirit Global Conference at Miracle Centre Cathedral in Kampala.

Museveni said he was pleased to join the conference hosted by Pastor Robert Kayanja and Pastor Jessica Kayanja, praising the couple for building an international network bringing together participants from Uganda, Africa and beyond.

“I thank Pastor Kayanja and Pastor Jessica for building such a rich international network, bringing together people from Uganda, Africa and beyond to share ideas, build relationships and strengthen one another,” Museveni said.

The President commended Pastor Kayanja for using his ministry to promote economic activities beyond preaching, particularly production, wealth creation and community empowerment.

He highlighted Kayanja’s agricultural initiatives in Karamoja and Kiryandongo as examples of efforts aimed at supporting production and livelihoods.

Museveni also welcomed calls made at the conference for greater African and East African integration, linking regional integration to expanded markets for African producers.

“I was also happy to hear the call for African and East African integration. This is music to my ears because a united African market is critical for our producers and for the prosperity of our people,” he said.

The President said the pastors’ decision to establish a SACCO was also consistent with the need to encourage collective economic activity and wealth creation.

“I am also glad that the pastors have formed a SACCO. I have pledged Shs2 billion to support this initiative because we must encourage our people to work together, produce and create wealth,” Museveni said.

The pledge places economic empowerment and collective savings at the centre of the conference, alongside its religious programme, while also highlighting the government’s longstanding emphasis on production and regional market integration.
