IGG BREAKS SILENCE ON AMONG PROBE! “We Have Received Several Petitions”

Uganda’s Inspectorate of Government has confirmed receiving multiple petitions against former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among and says preliminary investigations are now underway.

In a statement posted on its official X account, the IGG said:

“We have received several petitions against former Speaker @AnitahAmong and have commenced preliminary investigations. We can’t divulge any information prematurely.”

The statement marks the first formal confirmation from the Inspectorate of Government that Among is under active review following days of dramatic raids, sealed offices, and widening corruption and self-enrichment investigations.

The confirmation comes amid intensifying pressure on the embattled former Speaker, whose residences in Nakasero, Kigo, and Ntinda were recently searched by joint security teams investigating alleged corruption, illicit enrichment, and money laundering.

Investigators have also sealed off her parliamentary office and declared the Speaker’s chamber a crime scene as forensic teams continue gathering evidence.

The latest developments have sent shockwaves through Uganda’s political establishment and deepened uncertainty within NRM power circles following Among’s dramatic withdrawal from the Speakership race.
