KAMPALA – Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda has officially begun implementing its reopening work plan, marking a major milestone following a 40-day blackout that halted its broadcasting and publishing operations.
The reopening comes after the company received authorization from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and President Yoweri Museveni to resume operations.
The first reopening meeting was chaired by NMG Uganda Managing Director Sue Nsibirwa, who was joined by members of the company’s senior management team as they outlined the roadmap for restoring normal operations.
Addressing staff, Nsibirwa commended employees for their resilience, professionalism, and compliance throughout the abrupt and unplanned closure, describing their patience during the 40-day interruption as instrumental to the company’s return.
Management also called on staff to remain committed to delivering high-quality, credible, and trusted journalism as the media house works to reconnect with audiences who had been without its television, radio, and newspaper services during the blackout.
The reopening meeting focused on operational priorities, staff coordination, and strategies to ensure a smooth return to full-scale broadcasting and publishing while maintaining the editorial standards associated with the Nation Media Group brand.
NMG Uganda’s return ends more than a month of disrupted operations and signals the resumption of one of Uganda’s leading media organizations, with management emphasizing a renewed commitment to serving audiences with reliable and impactful journalism.
