The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has met the leadership of Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda to discuss the ongoing closure of the company’s media outlets, including NTV Uganda and the Daily Monitor.

Wednesday’s meeting was held at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe and brought together NMG owner Mr. Rostam Aziz, his son Mr. Saam Aziz, and Ms. Georgia Mutagaywa, Chief of Staff at Taarifa Limited, the parent organization of Nation Media Group Uganda.

The discussions focused on the continued closure of the media outlets, although details of the deliberations and any resolutions reached were not immediately disclosed.

The meeting marks the first publicly known high-level engagement between the military leadership and the owners of Nation Media Group since the suspension of NTV Uganda and the Daily Monitor.

Neither the Office of the CDF nor Nation Media Group had issued an official statement on the outcome of the talks at the time of publication.
