President Museveni Advocates for Robust Africa-Russia Economic Collaboration At Primakov Reading Summit

President Yoweri Museveni, in a pivotal address at the Primakov Readings International Forum, emphasized the significance of fostering a deeper collaboration between Africa and Russia. Museveni outlined key areas crucial for enhancing economic growth and development across the continent.

The Primakov Readings International Forum held in Moscow Russia, is dedicated to current issues and problems in the field of international relations. This year’s main theme is “Post-globalization horizons”.

During his virtual participation in the forum, the Ugandan President emphasized four pivotal factors essential for fostering stronger ties between Russia and Africa:

  1. Human Resource Development: Museveni stressed the importance of empowering and nurturing Africa’s human capital as a foundational element for sustained economic growth.
  2. Infrastructure Development: Highlighting the pressing need for robust infrastructure, Museveni emphasized the development of vital infrastructure such as roads, railways, electricity, and ICT networks, identifying them as fundamental to economic progress.
  3. Investments in Production: The President underscored the necessity of investments in manufacturing and service sectors, emphasizing their pivotal role in driving economic diversification and sustainability.
  4. Market Access Expansion: Expanding market access beyond the confines of Africa, including tapping into markets in Russia, India, China, and other global regions, was underscored as crucial for Africa’s economic transformation.

Museveni highlighted that implementing these measures would significantly contribute to Africa’s economic development and transformation. He expressed the vision of not only strengthening ties within the African continent but also actively engaging in global markets, aiming to capitalize on opportunities beyond Africa’s borders.

The President’s remarks aimed to create a roadmap for deeper collaboration between Russia and Africa, envisioning a mutually beneficial relationship that would foster economic growth and transformation across the continent.

The Primakov Readings International Forum served as a platform for key stakeholders and leaders to engage in discussions on critical issues facing Africa and Russia, with an emphasis on identifying actionable strategies for fostering sustainable economic partnerships.
