Jamaican dancehall queen Grace Latoya Hamilton aka Spice caused excitement in Kampala after making a high-profile visit to Bulange, the seat of the Buganda Kingdom, where she held talks with PM Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga and top Buganda ministers.
The singer, famous for her energetic performances and global hits, is in Uganda for the “Let’s Get Spiced Up” concert organized by Uganda Tourism Board and Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board to market Uganda as a top tourist destination.
Welcoming the Jamaican star, Katikkiro Mayiga said Ugandans and Jamaicans are “one people” linked by African roots, culture and shared heritage.

“People in Jamaica have African blood and many similarities with us,” the Katikkiro said, adding that Spice’s visit puts Uganda in the international spotlight.
Mayiga said celebrities of Spice’s status help attract global attention and more tourists to Uganda because “people cannot visit places they have never heard about.”
The Buganda Premier also praised tourism as a major source of jobs, income and cultural preservation, before urging Ugandans to embrace leisure and domestic tourism.

Spice’s visit has already sparked excitement among fans and entertainment lovers ahead of her much-anticipated performance in Kampala.
UTB CEO, Ms Juliana Kagwa who accampanied Spice, later tweeted, “we are ready to partner. When global talent experiences Uganda, the world discovers it. Let us showcase the best of Uganda, one event at a time.”
