Xi Jinping Calls for ‘Equal and Orderly’ Multipolar World

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for a more equal and orderly multipolar world, arguing that the future of international relations should be shaped collectively by all nations rather than dictated by a single dominant power.

Addressing the SCO+ meeting, Xi said multipolarity, respect for every country’s right to choose its own development path, and the democratization of international relations represent the “right path” for humanity.

Xi stressed that a changing global order should not mean replacing one form of dominance with another, but creating a system in which countries—regardless of size, wealth or power—have a meaningful voice in global affairs.

His remarks reinforce Beijing’s longstanding call for a multipolar international system, in which developing countries have greater influence over decisions affecting global security, trade, development and international governance.

The message comes as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) seeks to deepen cooperation among its members and partners amid growing geopolitical tensions and competition among major powers.

Xi’s central argument was that history should be written by all peoples, with nations free to pursue development models suited to their own circumstances rather than being compelled to follow a path set by another power.
