A high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has concluded a successful one-day field visit focused on Uganda’s infrastructure development and innovation and technology sectors.

The visit, held ahead of the ongoing Uganda–UAE Business Forum at Speke Resort Munyonyo, confirmed substantial and immediate opportunities for investment and technological collaboration across key sectors of Uganda’s economy.

Among the delegation’s key findings was a bankable plan to modernize Port Bell into a strategic, multi-modal “Green Port,” designed to enhance transport efficiency and support Uganda’s growing trade network within the East African region.

The team also identified six expressway projects within the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area as viable opportunities for UAE investors seeking to participate in Uganda’s expanding road infrastructure programme.

In the innovation and technology sector, the UAE delegation visited the Uganda ICT Institute, where they engaged with the country’s dynamic innovation ecosystem. They commended the over 90 startups housed at the ICT Innovation Hub, as well as the specialized Augmented and Virtual Reality (AVR) Center, which is positioning Uganda as a rising regional technology hub.

The visit concluded with a mutual commitment to advancing partnerships in infrastructure and digital innovation. Officials from both sides emphasized that the discussions have laid a strong foundation for further government-to-business (G2B) engagements during the two-day business forum.
