Former US President Barack Obama announced his support for Kamala Harris in her bid for the presidency, declaring that he and his wife, Michelle Obama, believe she would make a fantastic President of the United States.

“We called our friend Kamala Harris earlier this week and expressed our full support for her campaign,” Obama said. “At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November.”

The endorsement from the Obamas comes at a critical time in the election cycle, as candidates ramp up their efforts to secure voter support ahead of the upcoming November election. With Kamala Harris already serving as the Vice President, her candidacy is viewed by many as a continuation of the progressive policies and values that marked the Obama through to the Joe Biden administration.

Barack Obama emphasized the importance of unity in the fight for the future of the nation, urging supporters to rally behind Harris in her campaign. “We hope you’ll join us,” he added, encouraging citizens to participate in the electoral process.

It comes after Biden announced he would be quitting the race for re election.

As the election approaches, Harris’s campaign is expected to gain momentum with the backing of the Obamas, who continue to wield significant influence in the Democratic Party. The support signals a strong alignment between Harris and the values championed during the Obama presidency, positioning her as a candidate capable of uniting a diverse coalition of voters.
